Growing up, Cinthia observed her immigrant mother struggle to fit into a community where she looked and sounded different. Cinthia decided to major in English and Spanish while in college in order to perfect both languages and ultimately help alleviate the language burden for others. She volunteered with a Hispanic Girl Scout troop, which teaches young girls the importance of embracing their culture, as well as with the Prison to College Pipeline Program. Her interest in reducing negative stigmas within the Latino community drove her to intern at The Door Legal Services, where immigrant youth receive a wide range of services including free civil legal assistance. Cinthia works with Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem.
