Carlos David Aviles Castro
Carlos is a first-generation college graduate and son of Mexican immigrants. At the University of California Irvine he was selected as a Presidential Public Service Fellow, which enabled him to move to Sacramento, CA and join the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California. During his time there, he gained a deeper understanding of the plight of the immigrant community. This led him to become part of San Bernardino Community Service Center in the Inland Empire where he helped build deportation defense cases. It is confronting the challenges within the Immigration system that motivated him to seek policy changes. This led him to the United States House of Representatives as part of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute advocating for legislation that serves his community. At Building One Community he will continue to advocate for immigrant communities in the development of asylum and removal defense cases.
