John H. Peng

John’s experiences working in the Transnational Legal Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania Law School exposed him to a diverse set of immigration cases and human rights advocacy projects and shaped his desire to pursue a career in immigration law. Some of his most valued experiences with the Clinic include working with a trans woman on her defensive asylum application and representing her in immigration court, where she successfully obtained asylum, and drafting a joint communication to various U.N. special rapporteurships documenting human rights violations at immigration detention centers in the state of Georgia. As an Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow, John will be working with the Immigration Unit of the Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York, primarily providing legal services and representation to detained immigrants who are facing removal proceedings.
