During Law School, Alvaro interned with the Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge’s Immigration Legal Services Department, where he familiarized himself with immigration casework. He prepared work for cases ranging from derivative asylum applications to adjustments of status and conducted client interviews with attorney oversight and translators. Alvaro has witnessed the benefits of serving in an undeserved community and looks forward to making a positive impact with the IJC. Alvaro matched with Manzanita House as his host organization. He looks forward to working in Spokane, Washington, with an immigrant community that spans the Northwest, including parts of Idaho and Montana.
