Andrea is a child of an immigrant parent from Jamaica. Growing up, Andrea became interested in immigration law. Her interest in pursuing a long-term career in immigration law was solidified during her freshmen year of her undergraduate education at the Notre Dame of Maryland University. While attending the Notre Dame of Maryland University, Andrea, alongside her fellow classmates, founded the first African Caribbean Student Association (ASCA) on the campus. Andrea went on to attend Penn State Dickinson Law School. During law school, Andrea served as Vice President and Mentor for the Black Law Students Association, Mentor for the Women’s Law Caucus, and Public Interest Scholar. She interned with Esperanza Immigration Legal Services located in Philadelphia and Archdiocese of Washington D.C. Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services where she provided low cost and pro bono legal services to immigrant families in need. As an IJC Fellow, Andrea looks forward to joining CARECEN D.C. as a fellow for the IJC Unaccompanied Children Program, where she will provide legal services for children in need.
