As a first-generation, low-income student and daughter of Honduran immigrants, Carolina had an upbringing punctuated by experiences that shaped her passion for immigrant and racial justice. Through her internships at Greater Boston Legal Services and the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic, Carolina has assisted immigrants with their asylum cases and applications for residency and naturalization. While at Tufts, Carolina worked closely with system-impacted folks in an educational re-entry program—an experience that grounded her interest in the intersection between immigration and criminal law. Carolina is humbled to join Queens Public Library and eager to work with and learn from the vibrant Queens immigrant community.
