Meet #TeamIJC for the NYC Half Marathon

Introducing #TeamIJC

Immigrant Justice Corps is excited to announce that for the 2nd year in a row, we have partnered with New York Road Runners as an Official Charity Partner of the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon!

IJC is sending five representatives to run the marathon on March 17, 2019 with a fundraising goal of $10,000. Made up of Justice Fellows, Community Fellows and even an IJC supporter, learn what inspires them to be part of the team!

Community Fellow at Project Hospitality (El Centro del Inmigrante)

"Participating in the half marathon is great opportunity to combine my passions for running and immigration law by raising funds for IJC. I'm inspired by all of my incredibly impressive colleagues who put so much compassion into their work and by my resilient clients who have worked very hard to get to where they are now."

Alejandra Aramayo

Justice Fellow at Catholic Charities

"I run because I see it as a way to relieve stress and I also enjoy the mental challenge that comes with running long distance. I have a passion for immigrants' rights and I am running with team Immigrant Justice Corps because it combines two of my passions: running and immigration."

"I came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic as a baby with my parents in hopes of a better future for myself and my sister, so I really identify with IJC's mission. I started on a health journey in December 2017 and running became a hobby and stress reliever. I ended up losing 70 pounds. My wife and two beautiful boys are my inspiration."

Viridiana Inguanzo

Community Fellow at Queens Public Library

"In the face of mounting threats against the immigrant community, IJC’s work has become more crucial than ever. As an undocumented immigrant myself, I know all too well the feeling of fear and uncertainty intensified by these constant threats. The injustices committed against my community have instilled in me a sense of urgency to take action towards driving real impact. For this reason, I have decided to run my first half-marathon to support the work of Immigrant Justice Corps!"

Justice Fellow at NYLAG

"I started distance running in 2012 as a way to exercise and volunteer at the same time. I love distance running because it's a sport that is accessible to everyone and despite being an individual sport, is a wonderful way to foster community. I'm thrilled to be supporting IJC's mission in this year's New York City Half Marathon."

Help them reach their fundraising goal of $10,000!
