Kayla knew she wanted to be an immigration attorney after working with immigrants in Chicago during college. As an AmeriCorps member at Project Citizenship, Kayla saw hundreds of immigrants take the final step of their legal journey and become
U.S. citizens. As a student in Boston University’s Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, however, Kayla saw how elusive U.S. citizenship was for so many immigrants in immigration proceedings. She is excited to work with TRLA next year to partner with immigrants detained at the border to fight for their right to remain in the U.S.
