Ana’s experience as a Salvadoran immigrant has informed her commitment and work for immigrants rights and human rights justice. While attending Carleton College, Ana majored in Latin American Studies and was awarded the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship to conduct research on media (mis)representations and resilience of Central American immigrants. During the summer of 2017, she was selected as a Social Justice Fellow at the James Binger Center for New Americans, University of Minnesota Law School, where she conducted research on Central American country conditions to be used on asylum cases, and helped pilot an immigrant family preparation program. Ana will be hosted at Brooklyn Public Library.
