Austin is dedicated to mitigating the harms of the U.S. immigration system while working toward life-affirming alternative futures. After college, Austin spent two years as an immigration/anti-trafficking paralegal at Legal Aid Chicago. While attending Harvard Law School, Austin participated in the Crimmigration Clinic, the Criminal Justice Institute, and the Immigration & Refugee Advocacy Clinic, and spent his summers interning for Al Otro Lado’s Border Rights Project and Brooklyn Defender Services’ NYIFUP team. As an IJC fellow, Austin will work for Al Otro Lado’s Direct Representation Project in Los Angeles, providing free, holistic immigration legal services to low-income community members.
