Brian grew up in the border region of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. In his home community, he assisted in the research of Hope Border Institute’s “Hope and Resistance at the Border” Report and volunteered with refugee shelter Annunciation House. At Brown University, Brian supported sanctuary efforts through the Brown Immigrant Rights Coalition and served in the national steering committee of the Student Farmworker Alliance. Brian will be the first Community Fellow ever placed in the Texas RioGrande Legal Aid’s Dilley Pro Bono Project, where he will provide legal services to detained women and children undergoing the asylum process.
