During her third year of law school, Cecelia worked with Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services. She worked on asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and U-Visa cases. She also had the opportunity to help draft several public comments. Cecelia’s time at Catholic Charities gave her a broad understanding of immigration law. She also became familiar with the challenges that arise while working in a field where the laws are often unforgiving. Most importantly, it deepened her ability to work with clients. At Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, Cecelia will continue to work on SIJ and asylum cases for unaccompanied minors.
