Daniela Peña’s focus area is Immigration Law and it is a field very close to her heart. Prior to IJC, she was at the Immigrant Non-Citizen Rights Clinic where she worked on asylum and cancellation of removal cases. In addition to this litigation work, she also worked with the NY-NJ Abolish Ice Coalition advocating for the end of transfers and detention following the state’s termination of ICE contracts. Before that, Daniela worked in the immigration department of Make the Road New York where she focused on Cancellation of Removal, DACA, and VAWA Cancellation. Prior to that, she was an intern at Queens Legal Services in the Immigration Unit, primarily working with UVISA and VAWA applicants. She has also prepared asylum filings through MPP with Las Americas, an organization based out of El Paso, Texas. Daniela is looking forward to starting her immigration career at NYLAG, where she will contribute to a wide range of immigration matters.
