Emma has been interested in immigration law since before law school. During her 3L year at St. John’s University, Emma interned with Catholic Charities in the Unaccompanied Minors Program. There, Emma assisted unaccompanied immigrant minors defend themselves against the removal proceedings they had been placed into. Emma’s responsibilities included counseling these children, helping them file petitions for asylum and SIJS, and even appearing on their behalf during hearings. Emma is thrilled to now be working with Empire Justice Center, where she hopes she can continue providing these unaccompanied minors with the quality legal services they deserve.
