Gissell has made immigration rights her mission as a legal advocate. She fostered a passion for immigration law before attending law school during her time as a paralegal. Ever since, she has pursued immigration matters that have been significant in the immigrant community. Her work at Safe Passage Project alongside her supervising attorney won an affirmative Asylum case for two unaccompanied minors. Through her participation in the Immigration Clinic, Gissell worked alongside legal aid attorneys at Central West Justice Center on Asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile cases in addition to green card and DACA renewals. As an IJC Fellow, Gissell will be placed at the Center for Immigrant Representation in New Jersey.
