Isabel has always known she wanted to dedicate herself to advocating for immigrants’ rights since she was a child acting as an advocate for her immigrant parents. When she went to law school, she stuck with this path and volunteered with immigrants whenever the opportunity arose. Along with volunteering as an interpreter, Isabel was also a student representative for the UMass Law Immigration Clinic. As graduation neared, Isabel knew she wanted to continue advocating for immigrants, so she searched and found IJC. Isabel will be placed with Immigrant Defenders Law Center and will assist in providing counsel to unaccompanied children in the Southern California area.
