Jacqueline is the daughter of Mexican immigrants and was raised in Southeast Los Angeles in a mainly Latinx and Muslim community. As a first-generation college student, she majored in American Studies and Spanish at Wellesley College, with concentrations in race, class, and gender. During Summer 2018, Jacqueline learned more about immigration legislation through interning with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard of California’s 40th Congressional District, where she advocated for immigrant rights and produced a college resource guide for low-income, minority students. She will be working at Unlocal, an organization that provides legal assistance to undocumented immigrant communities in New York City.
