John joined IJC in August 2024 as TLTA’s West Coast Managing Attorney. Prior to joining IJC, John served as a Senior Attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) in Los Angeles, California. At KIND, John led a dedicated team of attorneys and paralegals representing unaccompanied children in their immigration proceedings and providing mentorship and training to KIND’s pro bono volunteer attorneys. John also supported KIND’s Family Separation Team by representing families separated under the Zero Tolerance Policy in litigation and administrative complaints under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
Before joining KIND, John served as a Supervising Attorney for Catholic Charities Community Services in New York City where he represented adults and children in removal proceedings before EOIR and complex affirmative cases before USCIS. At Catholic Charities, John led the organization’s Community Legal Clinic Project and supervised a team of Immigrant Justice Corps Fellows. John initially joined Catholic Charities as a 2015 IJC Fellow, where he spearheaded the organization’s expansion of legal services to New York’s Lower Hudson Valley.
John is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and UC Berkeley. He is licensed to practice law in New York and California. He is based out of Los Angeles, California.
