Jose-Romarah’s interest in public service started in her teenage years, where she worked for a non-profit that helped children from disenfranchised neighborhoods improve their reading levels. This continued in my adult years, where she worked with several nonprofit organizations. Some of her previous adult experience include creating community safety initiatives while at Brooklyn Neighborhood Improvement Association and being a peer mentor and translator for International Rescue Committee’s Summer Program. She will be using her translation skills and her experience with the U.S. immigration system to help the Brooklyn Public Library serve the Haitian Community.
