Karla first gained experience in immigration law and direct legal services working as an IJC Community Fellow at El Centro del Inmigrante and Legal Services NYC. As a paralegal with the Tenant Rights Coalition at Manhattan Legal Services, she helped organize tenant groups to prepare for litigation against abusive landlords. During law school, Karla interned at the Center for Constitutional Rights and The Bronx Defenders’ impact litigation and immigration practices. As a 3L, she also participated in CUNY’s Immigrant and Non-Citizen Rights Clinic. Karla will be working at Neighborhood Defender Services, providing affirmative and defensive services.
