Li joined IJC in August 2024 as Fellowship Manager for the West Coast region. Prior to her current position, Li worked on countywide policies related to social services for vulnerable populations. She also worked as a staff attorney with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County where she provided direct representation to clients in need of public benefits before the LA County Department of Public Social Services and the Social Security Administration.

Li worked as a fellow with the Immigrants’ Rights team at the ACLU of Southern California, where she advocated for the mass release of noncitizens from immigration detention during COVID-19 and also advocated for compliance with the California Values Act (SB 54), a state law prohibiting the use of state and local resources to assist with federal immigration enforcement.

Li Chia is a proud first-generation immigrant and fluent in Spanish. She graduated with a B.A. from UCLA. She earned her J.D. from UC Irvine School of Law and is licensed to practice in California.
