Matthew is a graduate of Marshall University and West Virginia University College of Law. In law school, he worked with the WVU Immigration Law Clinic, where he represented noncitizens, including juveniles, seeking release from detention and relief from removal to countries where they feared persecution. In 2020, while serving as a student intern with the Immigration Law Clinic, Matthew helped develop a limited representation program to assist noncitizens in interactions with immigration enforcement officers. Matthew currently serves as a law clerk in West Virginia, and, through IJC, will be placed at Mountain State Justice in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he will represent noncitizen minors before West Virginia state courts and EOIR courts.
