Miy has always been interested in immigrant and prisoner’s rights. In law school, she worked at The Legal Aid Society’s New York Family Unity Program (NYIFUP) and witnessed the intersectionality between the immigration and criminal justice systems. Her experience at LAS led her to work at Pace Law School’s criminal defense clinic. Many of Miy’s clients were immigrants and she wanted to learn more about their immigration needs. Miy is excited to be joining Catholic Charities Community Services where she will assist undocumented and detained and non-detained unaccompanied children and youth apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile status (SIJ), and humanitarian visas for victims of crime and severe trafficking.
