Samantha gained lawful entry into the United States after the 2010 devastating earthquake in Haiti. After teaching herself English and graduating high school, she worked as an English Language Learner Facilitator. At Columbia University, she was a Program for Academic Leadership and Services (PALS) scholar and helped build community at her school. Recognizing the need for access to education in the third world, Samantha helped design Education Outreach, a program to supplement the educational system in Mali. As a Community Fellow, Samantha provides critical high quality legal assistance to the Haitian immigrant community in Brooklyn. By providing immigration legal services, she hopes to give back to her community.
