Sarahelena’s experience navigating her own family’s USCIS requirements during her legal studies inspired her to use her degree to seek justice for immigrants. During law school, she worked with New York Legal Assistance Group’s Immigrant Protection Unit, Powell Law’s immigration practice, and OLA of Eastern Long Island. So far, she has worked on affirmative and removal defense cases including asylum, naturalization, T-visas, and SIJS. As a daughter and great-granddaughter of immigrants, Sarahelena is excited to continue with OLA of Eastern Long Island as an IJC Fellow supporting Spanish-speaking clients in remote areas of New York.
