Sofia graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in the College of Social Studies and Hispanic Literatures and Cultures. She is passionate about community engagement, immigration advocacy, and using language to enact social change. She previously interned at Central American Legal Assistance in Brooklyn, NY, where she assisted with asylum applications for recently arrived immigrants and developed her skills as an interpreter, translator, and legal advocate. As a member of Wesleyan’s WesTranslates club, she used her language skills to aid local residents. She is excited to join Volunteers of Legal Service’s Immigration Project and support immigrant students and young adults.
