Yenifer is originally from Puebla, Mexico. She is a first-generation college graduate from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American and LatinX Studies with a double minor in Anthropology and U.S. LatinX Literature. Yenifer worked as a Health Advocate at Mixteca Organization, providing assistance to community members who need access to insurance. She was involved in different non-profits organizations, creating valuable resources for her community and spreading awareness about their rights. She hopes to pursue her goal of becoming an immigration attorney and provide representation to those who are underrepresented. Yenifer is placed at Immigrant Justice Corps and will be assisting the immigrant community accessing legal services.
