Historic DACA Victory!

We are overjoyed and applaud the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic decision rejecting the Trump administration’s attempt to terminate the DACA program!

The Supreme Court held that the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to end DACA was arbitrary and capricious and in violation of the Administrative Procedures Act, and therefore the rescission of DACA is vacated! This means that for now, the DACA program stands!

Undocumented young people built this movement and worked tirelessly to make DACA a reality and to defend it from the attacks of the Trump administration. This is their victory. We salute the plaintiffs in this case for their tenacity and advocacy on behalf of DACA recipients and share in the joy and relief that this decision brings.

This decision comes at a time of reckoning in this country about racial inequality, which is inextricable from immigration issues. Without the leadership of Black people, we wouldn’t have an immigrant rights movement or this victory today.

The Supreme Court decision on DACA was the right one, but we now look to Congress for a permanent solution: a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented people.

Thank you so much for your support of the right to safety and justice for all immigrants. We have much work to do, but today we celebrate.

Onward,
