As the daughter of Peruvian immigrants, Marisol grew up in Tampa, Florida in a Latinx community learning about the injustices immigrant communities face. In law school, Marisol worked with immigrants from all walks of life, from low-wage service workers at Make the Road NY to Central American children fleeing gang violence at the Legal Aid Society. Through her school's Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic, she aided domestic violence survivors to obtain immigration relief through trauma-informed counseling. For the first two years of her fellowship, Marisol advocated for domestic violence survivors as a fellow with Safe Horizon in Brooklyn. She now represents adults with children as part of Immigrant Justice Corps.
