Annabelle’s upbringing as the daughter of immigrants in a Latinx community propelled her to use her law degree to defend undocumented immigrants. While in law school, Annabelle interned with the Southern Poverty Law Center, where she had the opportunity to help individuals in immigration detention through the Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative. Shortly thereafter, Annabelle interned with Catholic Legal Services of Miami (CLS) to assist in the representation of detained individuals. As a Justice Fellow, Annabelle will continue her work with CLS by providing legal services from initial intake to full representation to individuals currently detained in immigration detention at the Broward Transitional Center.
