Genesis’ passion for immigration law stems from her family experience and interactions with the US. Immigration System. During law school, Genesis solely focused on opportunities that she could serve low-income immigrants who often have their rights curtailed due to lack of representation. At the UDC Law Immigration Clinic, she represented two client families in their asylum cases. Genesis was also a summer fellow at Yale’s Workers and Immigrant Rights Clinic and UCLA’s Center for Immigration Law and Policy. She worked on litigation and policy work that benefited the immigrant community. These experiences have only furthered Genesis’s passion for becoming a public interest immigration advocate. Genesis is excited to work with CAIR Coalition’s Detained Adults Program, where she will represent detained immigrants in removal proceedings.
