For five years before law school, Janae was an organizer and fundraising director for the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, where she learned from Central Americans how U.S. policy first creates migrants, then criminalizes them. Janae’s desire to accompany immigrant-led movements motivated her to enroll at Northeastern University School of Law. Her commitment to a world without borders deepened through internships with the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice, RAICES, Justice at Work, and Make the Road New York. At the Bronx Defenders, Janae will represent non-citizens targeted by criminal and immigration systems.
