Karla’s interest in immigration law began at the age of six as a result of witnessing her mom’s road to naturalization that spanned the following fourteen years. During undergrad, Karla was a volunteer English teacher and went on to teach English in South Korea. During law school, Karla served as an intern at Hogar Immigrant Services, Legal Aid Society of D.C., and New York Legal Assistance Group with a focus on immigrant and housing rights. During 3L, Karla served as a student attorney in her law school’s Immigrant Justice Clinic. Karla is honored to have been selected as an IJC-Vera Fellow and to serve the Charlotte immigrant community.
