As a student at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin, Sam fostered a passion for immigration advocacy by helping found a refugee-support student organization and volunteering with several immigrant service providers. After graduating, he spent a year abroad in Meknes, Morocco where he continued his university Arabic studies through the Arabic Flagship Program. Upon his return to Austin, Sam taught Arabic at UT’s Arabic Summer Institute before becoming an Employment Case Manager at Refugee Services of Texas. As a case manager, he helped refugees and other displaced persons to secure employment and pursue their long-term professional goals. Sam will serve as a Community Fellow at the Arab American Association of New York where he will provide immigration legal services.
