Sandra was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States at 14 years old. Sandra’s journey from an unaccompanied minor to a trailblazing legal advocate defines her exceptional commitment to justice and community empowerment. Sandra earned her BA in Sociology from UC Berkeley and is pursuing her JD at UC Irvine School of Law. Her professional life is marked by impactful roles, such as representing low-income immigrants at Bronx Legal Services and advocating for workers’ rights with Worker’s United 50. Currently, Sandra serves as an Immigration Advocate at Open Door Legal in San Francisco, where she manages complex immigration cases. Dedicated to advancing the interests of the Latinx community, Sandra’s legal acumen and personal experiences drive her to make significant contributions to public service and legal reform. Sandra has been selected for a Justice Fellowship by Immigrant Justice Corps, and she starts in the Fall of 2024.
