Micaela decided to become an immigration lawyer after seeing lawyers mobilize in response to restrictive immigration policies. During law school she interned at The Door and African Services Committee, participated in Fordham’s Immigrant Rights Clinic, and was a Pro Bono Scholar in The Legal Aid Society’s Immigrant Youth Project. Micaela also was a board member of Fordham’s Immigration Advocacy Project and OUTLaws, and co-founded Fordham’s People’s Parity Project chapter. She is excited to return to The Door as an IJC fellow, where she will represent young people in immigration proceedings and in applications for SIJS and asylum.
