Meet the Fellows: Why IJC?

The 2024 Justice Fellows — our largest class of Fellows yet — have joined their host organizations, and are working to provide quality legal counsel to immigrants in need.

Below, we have highlighted six of the 2024 Fellows who shared why they chose to pursue an IJC fellowship.

One of the most valuable parts of a job is the community. An IJC fellowship will provide that community as well as resources to give me the best start possible to my career in immigration.

I chose to pursue an IJC Fellowship because the program creates an avenue for me to immediately and directly serve unaccompanied children.

An IJC Fellowship is an incredible opportunity to supplement the work I hope to do with a robust training curriculum that helps ensure the highest quality of legal advocacy. There is simply no other program like it.

Participating in the IJC fellowship will serve as an invaluable jump-start to my legal career, aligning with and preparing me to achieve both my personal and career aspirations.

The IJC fellowship is a unique opportunity to gain a valuable network while beginning my public-interest career. It combines my love of people and service in a way that no other opportunity could.

Being a native of West Virginia, and having seen first-hand the need for immigration representation within its borders, an IJC fellowship allows me to fill a much needed niche to assist my neighbors in securing permanency in their new home.
