Sonya Chung is a daughter to immigrant parents who continually inspire her to advocate for immigrant rights. Prior to attending law school, Sonya served as an AmeriCorps volunteer at Trinity Habitat for Humanity in Fort Worth, Texas. At NYU Law, she was a member of the Immigrant Rights Clinic taught by Nancy Morawetz and Alina Das. Sonya hopes to commit her career and educational privilege to advocating for immigrant rights in her community. As an IJC Fellow, she is partnered with Minkwon Center for Community Action to serve the legal needs of Korean and Chinese immigrants in New York City.
